Useful inventory control connects a consistent product record with stock movements and exception ownership. Storage space is only one part of that record.
Start with a trustworthy product file
- A unique warehouse SKU for every sellable variant.
- Product description and barcode, with channel mappings where identifiers differ.
- Explicit units per case, master case and bundle components.
- Product and packed-shipment dimensions and weights recorded separately.
- Lot, batch, expiry, serial or special-handling fields where applicable and agreed.
Ask which quantity you are looking at
| Quantity | Question to answer |
|---|---|
| Expected inbound | What is due, under which shipment reference? |
| Received | What arrived and what differences were recorded? |
| Available | Which units are usable and not reserved or held? |
| Allocated / held | Which order or instruction controls those units? |
| Returned | What is the approved restock or disposition status? |
Agree definitions in the current system; do not assume that every screen uses the same meaning for “stock.”
Make differences actionable
A discrepancy needs the SKU, reference, expected amount and the observation being questioned. The account and warehouse team can then review the work and required instruction. Counts, special traceability and reporting are defined for the account.
Distinguish today from the next WMS
FlexHub currently uses its existing portal and agreed operational workflows. The new FlexHub WMS is intended to supply product and inventory data to the website after connection and validation. Lot/expiry automation, alerts or rotation rules are not represented as live just because a field is planned.
Start with your actual operation.
Bring the product, order or system details behind your question so the team can review the relevant scope.
